About Our Kids & Teens Krav Maga Program
Our Kids and Teens Krav Maga programs (for ages 6-17) are designed to teach self-defense skills in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. We don't just teach martial arts techniques—we equip your child with essential life skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Our Goals for Your Child
- Improve self-confidence and self-esteem
- Promote the joy of lifelong physical activity
- Teach simple and effective self-defense techniques
- Develop important anti-bullying skills
- Learn to avoid, diffuse, and deal with aggressive, emotional, and difficult situations
- Build character and discipline
Our Training Approach
Krav Maga uses training methods that maximize results even in short training periods. We incorporate skill-building into fast-paced drills while ensuring that each class is fun and enjoyable for your child.
Every child leaves class with a feeling of accomplishment and success. We teach real martial arts and self-defense skills through engaging games and drills that simultaneously improve everyday physical abilities.
Physical Skills Development
Through our training, your child will improve:
- Balance and body awareness
- Coordination and motor skills
- Reflexes and reaction time
- Movement and agility
- Strength and conditioning
- Flexibility and range of motion
- Overall physical fitness
Age-Appropriate, Reality-Based Training
Classes are taught to the group as a whole and split into age groups and skill levels when needed to address the specific concerns and realities of different ages.
A reality-based self-defense system must take into account the reality of the population it seeks to educate, rather than simply watering down an adult system. Our curriculum is specifically designed for children and teenagers, not adapted from adult programs.
Session Structure & School Year Calendar
Our classes are divided into three sessions that roughly follow the school calendar:
- Fall Session: September through November
- Winter/Spring Session: December through March
- Spring Session: April through June
- Summer Break: July through August (no regular classes)
This structure allows families to plan around the school year while maintaining consistent training throughout the academic calendar.
Uniform & What to Wear
Free School T-Shirt
When you sign up for the full session, your child or teen will receive a free school t-shirt that serves as their uniform. We don't train in traditional white gi jackets and pants like Judo or Karate schools—our approach is more practical and comfortable.
Appropriate Attire
What to wear:
- School t-shirt (provided free)
- Shorts
- Sweatpants
- Athletic wear that allows free movement
- Comfortable, flexible clothing
What NOT to wear:
- Jeans
- Pants with zippers or studs
- Restrictive clothing
- Shoes (we train barefoot on our fully matted training area)
Belt Promotion System
Both kids and teens receive belts in recognition of their accomplishments and progress. Our belt system is designed to:
- Recognize consistent effort and attendance
- Motivate continued training and improvement
- Build self-confidence through visible achievement
- Track skill development and progression
How Promotions Work
Belt promotions are based largely on attendance (the number of classes taken), ensuring that students who show up consistently and work hard are recognized for their dedication.
Important: There are no additional costs or charges for grading, belts, or diplomas. Everything is included in your session tuition.
Our Training Environment
We provide a safe, fully matted training area where students train barefoot. Our facility is designed specifically for Krav Maga training, with:
